Pheobe In Wonderland

` ` Pheobe In Wonderland
Directed by Daniel Barnz Nicholas Brands Smit.
"Do you sometimes feel like your running but not going anywhere," She is sprinting next to the Queen, she is panting, but her destination was still no closer. She loses her balance and falls, and when she looks up, their is no queen to be seen, and her mother is running from the house to help her. Pheobe Lichten(Elle Fanning),is an imaginative, yet troubled girl. This movie tells the fictional story of a young girl with Tourettes syndrome. It is a strong story, yet it contains a few minor flaws.

Pheobe Lichten has a problem, a huge problem, she cannot control what she says. She is pulled into wonderland when she signs up for the play, and soon her imagination is clashing with reality. Although Pheobe is happily progressing with the play, there is trouble on the home front, and with an increasingly stressed out mother(Felicity Huffman), an angry father(Bill Pullman), and a unhappy sister(Bailee Madison), Phoebe will have fix her own life before conquering the world of wonderland.

The story of a girl with this syndrome merged with fantasy makes an inspiring story of hope, imagination, and emotion, yet a few flaws perge the story, but not enough to make its message weakened. For example, the teachers are exaggeratedly ignorant of what'd happenning to Pheobe, its like they can't see that their is something different about her. Another prime example is when the teacher sends Pheobe to the principals after spitting at a kid, the whole class was taunting her, and even if she didn't have the syndrome, the teacher made a bad decision. Yet it doesn't matter how much minor flaws with this movie was, it still contained a strong purpose and storyline about a girl with a powerful imagination and alot of dedication to her world.

Off with 'er head," the Queen says, although it was had powerfull lines and very good acting on the part of Elle Fanning, the Fantasy in this movie wasn't too strong, it was hard to tell if it was just her imagination, or if it really was magic. The story is appealing, the message about growing up, changing, and overcoming the problems in life is clear. It may be strange to watch if \you haven't read (or watched) Alice In Wonderland(Originaly named Alice's Adventures In Wonderland-Lewis Caroll) because characters will be unreconizable, making the movie hard to understand, making it have a smaller audience.

In my honest opinion, Pheobe in wonderland is worth watching even if just to remember the timeless novel of Alice In Wonderland, but I will not be jumping out of my seat to watch it again, it was an OK movie, worth renting a DVD to watch but it does even come close or live up to the timeless story that Pheobe imagination is based off.
