The Princess and The Frog.
"You're a waitress!??" Said Prince Naveen to Tiana, a look of disgust on his frog face. Disney's The Princess and The Frog takes a huge twist on the classic fairytale about a frog prince. Set in New Orleans, The Princess and The Frog is full of music, food, and fun.In a more modern time(Possibly from the 1900-1930s) this movie is easier to relate to. The main character Tiana(voice acted by Anika Nani Rose) is a more believable character over Disney's past Princesses. The animation is superb, and the fact that it is not CGI is a very welcome change. The fact that Tiana is Disney's first African American princess.
Tiana has always had a passion, and has held back on fun and friends to accomplish that dream, for years and years, she has worked twice as hard as any other person to open a restaurant. Yet when she finally has the money, the people who are selling her the area tell her the deals of unless she can get more money at a fancy dress party. She stands on a balcony in a princesses outfit and wishes to a star for help. Now meanwhile, Prince Naveen got turned into a frog by a voodoo master and has ran to the party. They meet on the balcony, the princess and the frog, and after only a short scene of screaming and cruelty to animals, they kiss under the stars. Yet when the sparkles clear, it is not a Prince who is standing next to a princess, no. The spell backfires, leaving both Tiana and Naveen as frogs, In their desperation they head to the Bayou in search of Mama Odi, a voodoo master of good. Unfortunately, the same Voodoo master who turned Naveen into a frog is hot on their heels, literally in search of Naveen's blood, with the dark voodoo forces chasing them it will be hard to return human.
The animation of the Princess and the Frog is splendid, with astounding effects, how the characters were drawn to represent their personality amazing and creative ways to create spectacles out of such simple things. The mere fact that this movie was animated classically, there were no CGI effects used brings back a more magical feeling to the Disney movie. With new concepts such as a first African American princess(still waiting for a prince), it makes this movie revolutionary on all fronts.
The Princess and The Frog is defiantly worth watching, Ron Clements and John Musker's animation teams did a splendid job, the music really pushed the movie along, giving it that more magical sense to it. With a more classical Disney animation style, and covering more modern concepts, it is a movie you can't miss. The best Disney movie in many years, The Princess and The Frog is a hilarious, well plotted ride all the way from the start to finish.
